My favourite vegan-friendly food in Alicante

Hello from sunny Alicante, Spain! I’ve been here for almost four weeks and thought I’d share four of my favourite vegan-friendly spots in the city.

This isn’t an extensive list by any means. But sometimes you just need a few good options, not a long list to spend hours scrolling through.

All of these places are central, easy to get to, and some of them skip the long Spanish siesta!

1. Thai Corner

Yes, I’m a big fan of Thai food—it’s no secret—and this is a great spot if you’re craving vegan Thai.

Thai Corner made it to my list for a few reasons:

  • Great vegan options
  • Tasty Thai food
  • Centrally located, only a two-minute walk from Mercado, one of Alicante’s main stations
  • Doesn’t close for siesta—current opening hours are 12:30 – 11:30 pm every day!

Their online menu doesn’t seem to be updated, but the physical menu they give you when you arrive clearly labels their vegan options, including red curry, green curry, a salad, and several vegan stir-fry dishes.

My husband and I argue over whether the red or green curry is better, but either way, you’re in for a treat.

Find Thai Corner on Google Maps.

2. La Favorita Bar

I was having a good old whinge about the lack of vegan-friendly tapas in Alicante the very day I found this place.

La Favorita Bar has a huge selection of vegan tapas—maybe 40-50% of the menu is vegan-friendly.

Reasons I love this place:

  • Loads of vegan options, rare in Alicante
  • Nice vibe and fun, friendly staff
  • Flexibility to order as much or as little as you want
  • Vegan versions of popular Spanish dishes

We’ve been a few times and will be back a few more! We’ve enjoyed croquettes, Alicante-style patatas bravas, Russian salads, and more.

The only downside is their big midday siesta, they’re closed on Sundays and Mondays, and on Fridays and Saturdays, although they stay open, the kitchen reopens only at 8 pm.

3. Tailang Ramen

This might be controversial, but while I’m a fan of most Asian food, I’ve never quite warmed to ramen.

Well, that is until I found this place!

Tailang Ramen has, without a doubt, the best ramen I’ve ever tried. There are quite a few vegan options on the menu, but I’ll never know if they’re any good because it’s simply impossible for me not to order the Yasai Ramen.

Why I’ve been here for lunch more times than I’d like to admit:

  • Best ramen I’ve ever eaten
  • Great price
  • Quick, easy, and clean meal
  • They always give me extra chilli oil on the side!

They do close for a siesta in the day but reopen at 6:30 pm, none of that 8 pm business. I know it’s the culture, but I still can’t get on board with eating that late!

Find Tailang Ramen on Google Maps.

4. Las Muns

Sometimes simplicity is the winner.

Las Muns is a small, mostly takeaway empanada spot in Alicante. If you want to eat in, there are a couple of counter seats.

They have three vegan options: Humita, Cheeseburger, and Choconanna. My recommendation is… get all three!

We’ve enjoyed them while strolling through the streets and back in our apartment (paired with some beans and baby potatoes).

Reasons to grab a vegan empanada from Las Muns:

  • Good vegan options
  • Very tasty
  • Cheap and surprisingly filling

Find Las Muns on Google Maps.

Well, that’s my short list of favourite vegan options in Alicante. It’s not the most vegan-friendly city I’ve been to, but as with most places, the options are there if you look for them.

If you’ve explored the city’s offerings, I’d love to know which four would make it onto your list.

Enjoy your time in this beautiful city!
