These are all excellent choices for those still looking for a full-blown English breakfast but seeking a vegan alternative.

Where to Buy Black Vegan Pudding?

If you’re looking for The Bury Black Pudding Company’s Vegetarian Black Pudding Roll you can buy it at Asda.

What is Vegan Black Pudding Made of?

The main ingredients in vegan and vegetarian black pudding are typically oatmeal, wheat flour along with oil and spices. Then different recipes use many other ingredients to give the right flavours and textures such as black beans, onions and potato starch.

What Does Vegan Black Pudding Taste Like?

Alright, does it taste like the original stuff? I can’t be sure, I haven’t eaten any for at least 18 years. But my guess is… not really.

It’s typically made using oats and the taste of it is rich, savoury, and has quite a lot of flavour of spices, herbs, and other natural ingredients that are said to replicate the familiar taste of traditional black pudding. The oats give a dense and slightly crumbly texture, a lot like the real stuff. This makes it a pretty good alternative to the real stuff.

Is Vegan Black Pudding Healthy?

Vegan black pudding can be a pretty healthy choice, especially when you compare it to its meat-based alternative. While traditional black pudding contains animal fat and cholesterol, plant-based versions are typically lower in saturated fat and generally healthier.

Instead, they are often made using plant-based ingredients like grains, beans, and vegetables, which offer a range of nutritional benefits. Many varieties are also good sources of protein and dietary fibre.

However, like any food, I’m not saying you should eat it three times a day, seven days a week but, in moderation, it’s a pretty healthy option. And every little option we can find that keeps us steady on our journey is a win in my eyes.
