Cadbury Plant Bars – Does Cadbury Do Vegan Chocolate?

Cadbury - Vegan Plant Bars

Last updated on December 3rd, 2023

I’m here to answer the questions: Does Cadbury do vegan chocolate and if so which Cadbury chocolate is vegan?

They might have been a bit late to the party but Cadbury did finally get the memo! Cadbury’s vegan chocolate bar is called Plant Bar.

Are Any Cadbury Products Vegan?

Back in January 2022, Cadbury made their two vegan Plant Bars widely available in supermarkets in the UK. So, yes Cadbury has two vegan products.

It’s a shame that after all this time, they still haven’t added any more products to their vegan range yet.

Which Cadbury Chocolate is Vegan?

Cadbury Plant Bars are vegan. They are made with Almond paste instead of dairy milk.

There are two options:

1 – Cadbury Plant Bar – Smooth Chocolate

2 – Cadbury Plant Bar – Salted Caramel

Are Cadbury Plant Bars Fully Vegan or Just Plant-Based?

Yes, Cadbury Plant Bars are fully vegan. That’s the beauty of them. Tradition Cadbury Dairy Milk bars are made with…you guessed it, dairy milk.

It seems that Plant Bars are the vegan version of these and they are made with almond paste instead, making them vegan chocolate bars.

Is Cadbury’s Plant Bar Dairy-Free?

Yes, Cadbury Plant Bar is dairy-free. Recently the number of people reducing or completely removing dairy milk from their diet is growing rapidly, so I’m glad to say if you’re one of those people, Cadbury Plant Bars are an excellent option because they’re dairy-free.

What are Cadbury Plant Bar chocolate Ingredients?

Cadbury Plant Bar Salted Caramel:

Sugar, Cocoa Butter, Almond Paste, Cocoa Mass, Rice Extract, Glucose Syrup, Salt, Emulsifier (Soya Lecithins), Flavouring, Sunflower Oil, Couverture Chocolate: Cocoa Solids 42% minimum

Cadbury Plant Bar Smooth Chocolate:

Sugar, Cocoa Butter, Almond Paste, Cocoa Mass, Rice Extract, Emulsifier (Soya Lecithins), Flavouring, Cocoa Solids 42% minimum

My Cadbury Vegan Plant Bar Chocolate Review…

They’re not bad. Not the best vegan chocolate I’ve had, but hand me one and I wouldn’t say no.

If you miss the old creamy rich taste of Cadbury Dairy Milk, you won’t fill that void with the vegan plant bar. Sorry!

The richness you find in the Plant Bar comes from the almond flavour, and it’s just not the same. So, if you’re a big fan of the almond flavour maybe this will be a favourite.

It is a nice vegan chocolate but in my opinion, it’s not one of the best out there. I guess the problem might be that the non-vegan Cadbury bars are just so damn good!

So, us vegans hoped they were back in our lives, but they just aren’t the same. It seems a lot of my vegan comrades agree. Most people like it but I’m yet to find anyone that loves it.

Where to Buy Cadbury Vegan Chocolate?

That’s an easy one, you can get your hands on Cadbury Plant bar in most big supermarkets such as Sainsbury’s, Asda and Morrisons.

Cadbury Vegan Pop-Up Sweet Shop in London

Back in March 2022, Cadbury made up for their tardiness with a limited-time vegan Cadbury pop-up in London.

Who knows why they did it? Maybe it’s because they want more folks to try them?

Or Maybe it’s because they recently came across this study by Research and Markets? It states that “The Global Vegan Chocolate Confectionery Market size is expected to reach $1 billion by 2027.

The Cadbury Vegan Apology…

Or maybe, just maybe, it really is a way for Cadbury to say they are sorry. It does follow their formal apology last year saying sorry for how long it took them to provide the vegans of the UK with their Plant Bars. Along with the apology letter being posted on social media they also had it painted on murals on the streets.

Cadbury - Vegan Plan Bar - Sorry

Sorry…the Pop-up is Gone!

The pop-up was only there for less than a week from March 22nd to 26th 2022.

And whatever their reason for doing it was, I don’t really care. I’m just happy to see more things like this around the UK, especially when it involves a huge international company like Cadbury getting on board by promoting dairy-free Dairy Milk bars.

What Vegan Chocolate is Next?

By now, all of us vegans who were eagerly awaiting the release of a vegan Dairy Milk bar have had the chance to try it….many times over for some!

Every now on then, I’d take a look in the chocolate section to see who’s got on board and decided to make a vegan version of their original. It seemed that I was never going to get my hands on a vegan Dairy Milk. But it finally happened. What will be next on the vegan section of the chocolate shelf?

When starting a vegan diet, many people say they feel changes both mentally and physically. This has led to the question Do You Lose Weight When Becoming Vegan?
