Aldi’s Pop Tarts, Top Twists, are the UK’s New Vegan Pop Tarts in 2024!

Some good news for vegan Pop Tart Lovers. Aldi has recently launched their very own Aldi Pop Tarts, called Top Twists. They come in at a much lower price tag than regular Pop Tarts. And they just so happen to be vegan Pop Tarts!
There’s no denying it. Veganism is a fast-growing trend in the UK. And as a result, us vegans are scouring the shelves and shouting out for more and more options! And the latest vegan addition on the market are vegan Pop Tarts in Aldi!
Yes, you read it right, Aldi now has their own brand of vegan Pop Tarts!
Okay, they are not officially Pop-Tarts, because that’s a Kellogg’s brand, but they are a pretty good imitation. Aldi’s take on Pop Tarts are called Top Twists.
There are currently two flavours of Top Twists available in Aldi. Strawberry and chocolate and I’m delighted to say, they are both vegan! It says in the lifestyle section on Aldi’s website that they are suitable for vegans so we can be pretty confident about that.
However, with most things, it says in the Allergy advice section ‘May also contain nuts, peanuts, egg, other gluten sources and milk’. So if you’ve got an allergy you may need to pay attention to this.

This is great news for people like me, who are looking to relive their youth. I don’t know if Pop Tarts have any special meaning or memory for you? But they do for me.
In my house, chocolate pop tarts were our traditional Christmas breakfast. Now I’m looking forward to reintroducing them this Christmas.
Where to Buy Vegan Pop Tarts in the UK?
If you’re looking for vegan-friendly Pop Tarts these Aldi Pop Tarts really are your best option.
I’ve kept an eye out for years and I haven’t found any other good option out there. Yes, it’s possible to get unfrosted versions shipped in from other countries but they end up being expensive and….unfrosted, that’s not the point of Pop Tarts!
Are Nature’s Path Pop Tarts vegan?
People often talk about Nature’s Path Pop Tarts as a vegan option but after having a look online I can’t find any vegan ones. It seems their non-frosted ones have honey in them and their frosted ones have both honey and milk in them. So that rules them out.
Are Kellogg’s Pop-Tarts Vegan?
Let’s talk about the real thing, Kellogg’s Pop-Tarts. Here in the UK, you can’t buy any vegan Kellogg’s Pop-Tarts in big supermarkets. In the UK there only seem to be three flavours available, Hot Fudge Sundae, Strawberry Sensation and Frosted Choctastic and they all have beef gelatin. Who wants beef in their sugary breakfast?! So that rules them out too!
You can buy the non-frosted ones online but they need to be imported from the US and usually seem to cost a fortune.
Are Pop Tarts Vegetarian?
Yes, some Pop Tarts are vegetarian but not all. The reason that some aren’t vegetarian is because they contain gelatin. However, vegetarians still have more choices because some have milk or honey which is okay on a vegetarian diet not on a vegan diet. Take a look at Nature’s Path’s website for vegetarian Pop Tarts.
If you find any other pop tarts I’d love to know about them. But for now, it’s all about the new Aldi pop tarts.
Anyway, remember when it comes to choosing vegan Pop Tarts, it’s important to read the label carefully to make sure that the ingredients are plant-based and free from animal products. Sometimes they sneak in the word honey right in the middle of the list of ingredients.
Some other common ingredients to watch out for include dairy, eggs, and gelatin.
The news that Aldi now offers its own brand of vegan Pop Tarts is a great development for the vegan community in the UK, I know I’m certainly excited!
With a growing demand for vegan options, it’s likely that we will continue to see more companies offering plant-based alternatives to other popular treats.
