Now, I’m sure we can all agree that vintage shops are taking their place in today’s fashion, and rightly so, but Birmingham is no trend follower, in this instance, you might even go as far as saying it’s a trendsetter.

Every day my love for this little corner of Birmingham grows. It’s still developing but maybe soon Digbeth will feel like you’re in a cool neighbourhood in London. So why not have a vintage day out in Digbeth, home to Cow Vintage and Red Brick Market, you can even include some stop-offs for lunch and a drink or two.
1. COW Vintage – Digbeth

Cow Vintage is rightfully one of the most popular vintage shops in Birmingham. This is a vintage shop that hasn’t missed a trick. With a large store, an online shop and a huge range of products from old vintage styles to reworked items.
As well as Birmingham, they have stores in Bristol, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester and Nottingham. As if they aren’t cool enough, 90% of their store interiors are made from recycled materials.

4. Credit Crunchers Vintage – Digbeth
This place seems to be rivalling the others in regards to the price. Everyone is super excited about the bargains and deals they pick up in Credit Crunchers Vintage. And I know we’re here for the vintage clothes and they do sell clothes, but they seem to be big on furniture too. You can dress yourself and your bedroom.

5. Birmingham Rag Market – Edgbaston Street – Birmingham
The Birmingham Rag Market is very symbolic in Birmingham and if you’ve never been to this almost unlimited market in Birmingham then today’s the day.

6. The Oasis Market Birmingham – Corporation St
The Oasis market is a great stop for unusual and unique items of all kinds. Especially vintage and retro clothes. You can wander around and find something different in every corner of this place.

7. La MC – North Western Arcade
Vintage can be funky and retro. But vintage can also be elegant and classy. If you’re after a more elegant look this is the place for you!

8. Gingermegs Vintage – Vyse St
Gingermegs Vintage is a vintage clothing store specialising in Victorian to 1940s clothing. They have a studio based in the Jewellery Quarter however this is only open by appointment so make sure to get in touch before making the journey.

If you’re looking for a classy little vintage shop in the Jewellery Quarter selling shirts this will be a lovely treat. 10. Top Banana – Kings Heath
A couple of miles from the centre of Birmingham is Top Banana in Kings Heath, and this place may just be worth the short journey out of the city. They have a quality range of vintage clothes at really good prices, and their staff there are always super friendly. An added bonus is there are plenty of great pubs in Kings Heath. Sometimes shopping can be thirsty work.

11. Urban Village – Henley
Urban Village probably shouldn’t be on the list of vintage clothes shops in Birmingham because it’s quite a journey from the city. But, it’s worth a mention because it’s a truly great vintage shop and you might have been looking to take a trip to beautiful Henley anyway.
Here you’ll find quality vintage clothes, along with some other cool and quirky things like vinyl records and also a few unique ornaments.

Off The Scale Vintage are a really cool not-for-profit store selling recycled and upcycled clothing by the kilo to help raise awareness about depression. They have online and mobile pop-up shops.
